Ukraine's National Psychological Association moves toward self-regulatory-organization status

For professionals. Not clinical advice for clients.

NPA-UA's Council decided on 2026-02-26 to form a working group tasked with designing a self-regulatory-organization (SRO) model — unified professional standards, a code of ethics, and certification procedures for psychologists in Ukraine. The process is currently at the working-group-formation stage; no implementation date has been announced.

The National Psychological Association of Ukraine (NPA-UA) is Ukraine's professional association for psychologists. On 26 February 2026, NPA-UA's Council decided to form a working group tasked with preparing the association's transition to self-regulatory- organization (SRO) status. In the association's own words, the goal is "developing and implementing unified professional standards, ethical norms, certification procedures and accountability mechanisms in psychological practice."

The working group is charged with drafting the association's internal normative documents, an organizational model for the SRO, and a package of coordinated draft decisions for later approval. Participation in the group is paid, seats are limited, and selection is competitive; candidates were asked to submit a motivation letter and CV by 1 May 2026. This announcement therefore describes a completed recruitment stage, not a finished outcome.

Why this is worth watching: a professional association moving to SRO format typically means practice and certification standards become binding rather than advisory. The source does not state an implementation date or specify exactly which powers the SRO will hold — that remains an open question, not an established fact. This item will be updated once the next official milestone (for example, the working group presenting its proposed model) is published.
